Collectors of antique sterling silver napkin rings, we are preparing to sell a number of fine examples from our personal collection. I'll keep the descriptions simple and let the photos do most of the talking. Most if not all of these were purchased from renowned NYC antique dealer Alice Kwartler, a specialist in antique sterling and gold. Alice's wonderful, treasure-filled shop can still be found on East 57th Street in Manhattan. If you like children's or baby sterling collectibles, is the best of the best --- an antique children's nursery rhyme napkin ring by the William B. Kerr Company of Newark, NJ. Kerr was bought by Gorham in 1906, so I believe that this fantastic napking ring was made prior to then, perhaps as early as the 1890's. This is an exceeding rare piece, in that it contains the designs for four different nursery rhymes that are each rendered in incredible detail, with Art Nouveau flair. The four rhymes are entitled The Bears, Mary & Lamb, Humpty Dumpty, Puss In Boots, and each one has a very detailed scene from the original nursery rhyme. It is an amazing piece and one that you will be hard-pressed to find again. It would make a fabulous addition to any collection, or the very best baby shower or new baby gift for someone very special. The napkin ring measures nearly 1.80 inches in diameter and stands 0.80 inches tall. It is well marked on the inside rim with the Kerr mark, which is a stylized tomahawk, and also has an impressed STERLING mark, as well the design number 5362. It is in excellent condition, especially for its age, with only the expected minor scratches and dings. T have been no repairs, and it has no cracks, dents, or other wear and tear of any significance. It does have an elaborately hand-engraved monogram on the front, with entwined script that reads TBS, I think. Please call with any questions: Terry at . I will begin the bidding at $200 with no further reserve, and am confident that this beauty is easily worth twice that amount.
