VINTAGE 1952 KNOLL SCISSORS CHAIR DESIGNED BY PIERRE JEANNERET
3 DAY LISTING!!!!!! This piece is a stunning example of early Knoll craftsmanship. It was designed in 1947 by Pierre Jeanneret and this particular chair was issued in 1952 NOV 18th as stamped on the underside. T is no tag, but please see the online Knoll Museum for photos and specs. It has a Birch wood frame and rust colored cotton webbing fabric upholstery over foam cushions. This is an iconic piece in very nice condition for its 55 years. W 22", D 31, H 28" From the Knoll Museum Website: "Pierre Jeanneret began working as an architect in the office of hiscousin, Le Corbusier, in 1922 and collaborated with him and CharlottePerriand on seminal furniture designs. Jeanneret was one of Knoll's first designers to gain international recognition, and the Scissors chair was one of the first that Knoll upholstered." Condition: *The frame is sturdy and without a defect that I can see. The finish does have wear, especially at the bottom w it is lighter at the bottom of the legs. The wood is not damaged, the finish is just lighter t The finish appears to be original. T are no chips, repairs, or gouges. *The aluminum buttons are clean of old varnish residue and are without dings or significant scratches just some light discoloration. T are 2 metal springs on the underside that are joined in the middle for support. *The straps are all intact and in good condition without rips, holes or weak areas. They are securely attached to the frame. They are faded at the back and along the bottom, but are the same overall color and same fabric as the upholstered cushions. They have the original tacks securing them to the frame. The tacks have rusted, but now match the upholstery in color. They can be seen only from the underside. *The fabric covers on the cushions are in good condition with only a few very small and barely noticeable dark spots, two are completely covered when the cushions are in place and only one is visible. They are not faded, worn, or damaged in any way. The straps are all attached, in good condition and without wear. They attach to the chair with large snaps that are also in good condition. One of the pins for the snap at the back right corner is missing. This should not be difficult to replace. *The inner foam will need to be replaced. The Masonite board is intact on the underside of the cushion. The cushions are like pumice stone, hard and brittle. T is a very distinct mustiness that really aggravates my allergies. The zippers are brass and marked CONSO. T is a green chenille type liner on the cushions. I want to ship these intact, so please be advised that the fabric covers will need to be cleaned and the foam replaced before use. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING! This item will ONLY be shipped via Greyhound PackageXpress. It will need to be picked up at your nearest bus station within 3 days of its arrival. The shipping rate is a flat $65 fee to anyw in the continental US. This includes packaging materials and insurance up to $300. If your item exceeds the $300 limit you may purchase additional insurance through the insurance agent of your choice. I am not offering any other shipping options on this piece.
