Slate Pendant Black Banded slate Fayette County KY 1.75x1.25x <1/8 inch thick This is a slate pendant of beautiful highly polished black banded slate. It was probably salvaged in ancient times from a broken gorget or pendant, and exhibits exceptional craftsmanship. Many KY slate pieces are somewhat crude and not of the most attractive material, but this one shows highly evolved craftsmanship and very nicely squared edges and bi-conical drilling. I am guessing that this is a fort ancient piece, but it was found very near the fisher mound in Fayette county, so it could likely date to the late woodland period. Almost all authentic slate pieces from central KY are made from black banded slate.Guaranteed unimpeachibly authentic forever, full provenence including the finders name and location of the find provided the buyer. I offer a 30 day unconditional return policy. The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
