This is my fifth sale of photographs from a rare collection of about 100 World War II photos purchased at an antique mall in Edmonton. All were contained in a large loose leaf binder and encased in plastic covers. Many are large 8" by 10" official photographs. Others vary in size. Most are in excellent condition, however, a few have rubbed against the metal binders and worn away a bit of the white border on their left sides. Given the large number of pictures, I have opted to sell the collection in blocks. Today's offering features a variety of combatants. The first (gallery) photo is 10" by 8". The reverse side is unmarked. It shows a German tank killing crew with their weapon at the base of the Acropolis. PHOTO # 3 has no official markings but a typewritten attachment informs that the subjects are General Dick O'Connor with the Commander-in-Chief of British forces in the Middle East, General Sir Archibald Wavell, outside Bardia, Libya, January 1941. It is also 10" by 8". PHOTO # 2 is also 10x8. It is stamped on the reverse side: National Photography Collection, Public Archives of Canada. A typewritten attachment informs that this is a Canadian signaller in Northwestern Germany. He is armed with a Sten Gun and operating a No. 18 set. PHOTO # 4 is 10x8 and has no official markings.
