RARE BIG LITTLE BOOK
The Laughing Dragon of OZ by Frank Baum Published by Whitman Publishing Co. 1934 425 pages. Illustrated by Milt Youngren. NOTE: Frank Baum was L. Frank Baum's eldest son. L. Frank Baum created Oz and wrote the first original 14 Oz books! is one of the RAREST of Oz Collectibles!!! Only one printing was done and not a whole lot at that. Very RARE Big Little Book that is becoming more scarce!!! The exterior of the book is bright with slight pencil markings on a few of the letters in the book's title on the cover. Front hinge slightly loose but the spine is intact and secure. Rear hinge looks fine. All pages are intact. Approximately every other page is a full-page, black and white picture with advertisements at the end of the book. 7 pictures in the beginning of the book were nicely colored in by a budding artist. The interior of the book is tight. What makes this book UNIQUE is something *I* have never seen before. I thought a bookworm was someone who read a lot. Well, this book has been read by many a bookworm in its day and I mean that literally, too. If you take a close look at several pictures you will see w a bookworm ate its way at the top and at the bottom of the book. It does not interrupt the text or pictures, thankfully. But t are small sections w you can see w the bookworm tunneled its way through the pages. Personally, I think it makes the book even more interesting and a topic of conversation! Thanks to the bookworm its given the book "character" and in my opinion makes the book even more of an oddity for such a rare collectible! ITS A MUST HAVE FOR THE VERY SERIOUS OZ COLLECTOR!!!
