Rare and early revolving 11mm pinfire rifle, these were known to have been imported by the Confederacy (See Ã,Â"Lefaucheux SystemeÃ,Â", by Chris Curtis). Due to the inability of the Confederacy to obtain or manufacture pinfire cartridges, these rifles were used with the chimney adaptor. Recoil shield is the early bell form. Spur trigger guard. Notch rear sight and front leaf sight. Marked Ã,Â"E LEFAUCHEUX/-------Ã,Â", and stamped with low serial number Ã,Â"285". Liege proof stamped on cylinder. Markings faint, but mostly readable. Nice even plum patina. Loading gate missing. Figured walnut stock with several deep gouges on one side. Condition typical of CS used pieces. Elegant petite size and feel to the rifle-a neat and rare item. Overall length 40". See Curtis for a discussion of the chimney adaptor.
