Very elaborate Presentation grade example of Model 1860 Field and Staff Officer's sword, on the blade "Awarded to the Captain E.J. Gray the most popular officer in the National Guard of Vermont by the Rutland Herald August 23rd. 1890" the other side has beautiful etched images and inscription "Of Nat'l Guard" all against gold washed panels, showing some expected wear but all is quite sharp and well visible. Awesome brass mounts of the hilt and scabbard, retaining most of its original rich gilding, small crack on top of one of the eagle's wings on the pommel which is also slightly loose which causes slight play to the guard, otherwise in good condition with lovely shark skin grip fully intact. Gorgeous sword overall and a superb presentation example of its kind. Overall length 40" Blade 30 3/4".
