RARE FORMED EASTLAKE VICTORIAN MARBLE TOP BEDROOM SET IN BLACK WALNUT WITH BURLED WALNUT PANELS From the court ordered divorce sale of a prominent New England dealer's personal collection. An amazing event stuffed with the absolute finest grouping of merchandise we have seen this year! With our highest compliments we present you with this remarkable Eastlake movement Victorian period inset marble topped bedroom set. This set is adorned with fantastic carvings and designs. It has turnings replete with spindles, finials and intricate chip and reticulated carvings and grooves. These motifs are completely new to us. They are nothing short of stunning! This set consists of a high back full sized carved bed with turned ball style finials. The rails on this bed have had a repair to fix an old split but this was addressed with a large custom fabricated steel bracket mounted to the inside of the rail w it remains completely invisible. The other rail is missing one decorative corner piece on the flared end. These rails still perform 100% holding the bed as tight and certain has the day it was made. We guarantee the integrity of these rails! Again these are extremely minor issues that are not seen when the bed is assembled; however we do not conceal any matter that comes to our attention. You have the right to know! Please note that we have seen these types of rails both widened and lengthened making the accommodation of queen sized bedding possible. Next comes the full sized inset marble topped commode with full carved backsplash. Lastly is the impressive dresser completing this set. This marble topped chest with full sized dressing mirror has the same matched carvings as the bed and the commode. The bed has a 65" tall headboard and a 29" tall footboard with both pieces being 59" wide. Both pieces are secured tightly by the rails. T is no play in this bed! The commode measures 31 ½" long, 18" wide and 41" tall. The dresser is 44" long, 20" wide and an impressive 84" tall at the mirror's top and the chest being 30" tall to the top of the dresser from the floor. This is the BEST Eastlake set we have offered since our on-line debut! (9-26-07): Note: When we first posted this set we included a photo of two small missing molding pieces on the right and left sides of the dresser's mirror. Since then our woodworker has fabricated the replacements. They have been installed, they look great and we have taken that photo down. T is quite a bit of interest in this set thus far. If we find it necessary to extend this listing we will post new photos of the new molding pieces. Additionally, we would be delighted to provide you with these pictures NOW, simply ask us. A great set and value just got better! FURNITURE WOODS 101 We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, bird's eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesn't state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos. We hope this clarifies for ...
