DESCRIPTION: As a change of pace, today we are offering a selection of European ceramics from the estate of a Seattle fashion model in addition to our normal offerings of Asian antiques. Sixth item up is a rare, Masons (English) shaped dish. It dates to the 1820's. Several pieces of this same dessert service are pictured in Geoffrey A. Godden's book: Mason's Patent Ironstone China. They are shown on plate 41 and come from the collection of "Messrs. Godden of Worthing." Unlike the later Masons which used transfer printing, this dish is completely painted by hand. The flowers are so well painted that they look like transfers, but they are not. DIMENSIONS: 9 1/2" X 7 1/2" X 1 1/2". CONDITION: The piece is in excellent condition with only minor wear to the gilding and no chips, cracks, or restorations.
