Very unusual and rare Matthew's closure. This is not the gravitating stopper bottle we're all familiar with but a 9 1/4" beer with an unusual blob top which bevels inward then swells forming a cam. The bottle is a proprietary mold blown beer, not a sluplate, nicely whittled, embossed R.E. FOSTER POUGHKEEPSIE N.Y. and base embossed MADE BY JOHN MATTHEWS NY PAT JUNE 11 1872. The bottle is in wonderful as found condition, never in the ground, retaining a small amount of case wear (not at all distracting) and one small ping on the reverse base. Ships USPS Priority, email with questions and additional pics.
