This auction is for a FABULOUS and RARE antique miniature or salesman's sample tea bin or tin. It is truly "A work of Art" and signed on the bottom by the artist Ede'. It is made just like the large ones that you would have seen in a general store in the old days that held bulk tea. The tin is exquisitely made and is in excellent conditon. The slanted lid is hinged and it lifts up and has a tab that closes it securely. The front is curved and the tin measures approx. 4 1/2" tall, 3" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. I'm not sure if all the tin is handpainted but I can tell some of it is. The oriental couples on the 4 sides have gold and silverleaf underneath them. The scenes are quite detailed and t is only one very tiny place w a couple of specks on one of the man's face is chipped. You have to find it with 10x magnification. T is a tiny mark near the bottom on the front w the paint has worn off but it is about the width of a pencil mark and 1/8" long. The inside of the lid is discolored. All of these things are very trivial and do not detract from the appearance of the tin. If you collect miniatures or salesman samples, this would make a wonderful addition to your collection. If you are like a lot of people nowdays who drink looseleaf tea, this would make a nice storage container. I have put a low reserve on this to protect my initial investment. I had a couple of lookers tell me they wouldn't bid on my auction because it was a reserve auction so I tried to remove it but couldn't so I lowered it to $24.95 which I knew would cancel it out. That is a lot less than I originally paid for it. Hope this helps you.
