This is an original John Ek Model 7 Secret Agent boot knife, with a genuine pearl handle, in factory mint condition, in the original box! The knife measures 7-3/8" overall with a 3-1/4" double-edged blade that is marked on one side with the Ek logo: Crossed knives and: "Ek/ Commando", with "1941" (when the company was founded) and, in a scroll: "Korea", "World War II" and "Vietnam" (w the knives were used.) The handle is pearl and black onyx, inlaid together with nickel silver spacers. If you'll look at the photos of both sides, you'll notice that the handle sides are mirror images of each other--what is pearl on one side is black onyx on the other, and vice versa. This is the rarest of the Ek boot knives, and one of the rarest of all the original John Ek knives. It is shown in the last Blackjack/ Ek catalog, but most Ek collectors have never seen one! We talked to the folks at Santa Fe Stoneworks, who did the handle inlay work for Ek; they told us that t was only one small run made (50-100 pieces, they didn't remember the exact number). This knife was being made at the time Blackjack/ Ek went bankrupt; the Santa Fe Stoneworks folks said they stopped work and waited until they were paid for their work, then shipped the finished knives and unused parts to back Ek in Effingham.
