Hand painted Nippon Game Set consisting of 13 pieces - 12 plates and 1 large serving platter. Marked on the back with the maple leaf and underneath to the right it says Nippon and then hand painted. Absolutely fabulous set and as you know fairly rare, and even more rare is to find a set that is in nearly pristine condition. Around the inside border of the plate and through out the reserves is beaded gold enameling the colors are absolutely glorious. The exterior rim of the plate is perfect but there are at least one (on some plates more) little bead on the interior rim of the plates that is missing or has been (overtime) gently worn down - but all in all very minute. The plates measure 9 in diameter and the large oval center plate measures 16 l x 12w. This set is pictured exactly in The Wonderful World of Nippon Porcelain 1891- 1921 it is on page 205. The picture in the book is of the exact set having only six plates and it states right there in the description that they are rare so this one is even more incredible having 12 plates which is almost unheard of. Striving For Excellence It isnt brilliance or just getting the breaks, It is consistent attention to & honest respect for the Customer. Blue Dolphin Antiques 164 Atlantic Hwy Northport, Maine 04849 #
