This guaranteed authentic antique Nippon moriage ewer in the rare Cherry Blossom pattern is in excellent condition. The ewer is appropriately marked with the Morimura Brothers mark as shown that began in 1891. T are no chips, cracks, hairlines or other damage to the piece. T is not even any damage to the moriage which is extremely unusual for pieces like this that are about 100 years old. The only minor issue is an insignificant manufacturing flaw, when the piece was made on the bottom portion of the body (w is does not show when displayed) the moriage design did not entirely cover the white area used to outline the area for moriage. The ewer measures about 7 1/4" high and 5" across the body. The last piece of this rare pattern that I saw sold on Ebay was a vase which sold for over $2,000. We are offering this ewer for No Reserve and an extremely low starting price. Good luck in the bidding. This piece is being offered with international shipping at actual cost to be determined after the close of the auction with no packaging or handling fee, just actual shipping and insurance. Texas residents to pay 8 1/4% sales tax or provide exemption information. Purchaser to pay shipping and insurance.
I was asked to show photos of the manufacturing flaw mentioned. I looked again at the vase that I mentioned that sold for over $2,000 and it has the same flaw. The area that moriage was to be placed was not painted. On the bottom side of the ewer w it does not show when displayed the artist failed to completely cover the white area outlined for moriage. In the close up you will see that the moriage is not broken or missing but was near placed over the full area. This is a very small matter and area and does not detract from the beauty or value of the piece. Good luck in the bidding.
