Rare Northwood Carnival Glass Electric Blue Plate EX

This wonderful azure electric blue stippled Northwood Three Fruits pattern plate is in excellent condition and has really excellent color with lots of gold. red, green and blue. T are a couple of pinhead size rubs to the tops of the fruit that are virtually unnoticeable except under close examination. It has the ribbed mirrored underside which also has some very small rubs. The ribs carry a nice carnival effect from the center to the rim of the plate like the spokes of a wheel. T are no chips or cracks. It is 9.25" in diameter and 1.5" tall at the rim. Very hard to find, you will cherish this in your collection.
Carnival Glass is made by fuming or spraying hot pressed glass with metallic oxides. This forms an irridescent coating on the surface of the glass that reflects the colors of the rainbow. It is similar to the effect of oil on a puddle of water. Photographs can't totally reproduce the effect of light hitting the glass. These photographs were taken outside in natural light. As a longtime Antique Dealer I have collected a lot of glass. I would never keep anything but the best examples for my own collection. See my other auctions for more great Carnival Glass pieces.
