RARE OLDSMOBILE ADVERTISING BROCHURE CIRCA 1938-40

Up for sale today is this superb Oldsmobile advertising brochure. This entirely original item is undated, circa 1938-40. The brochure is both stylish and beautiful, sure to please collectors of vintage General Motors vehicles. For collectors of old auto advertising this brochure is an ideal example of the restrained and elegant graphic design of the late 1930s/early 1940s.

The brochure is staple bound and measures 12x6.5 inches or 305x163mm. It contains a total of 12 pages excluding the covers. The covers are rubbed and the item is in near-fine condition - a lovely copy in an unusually good condition.

Of special interest in this brochure are full-page colour plates of the Series 60 sedan, coupe and the series 70 sedan. The illustrations are elegant and restained. Smaller black and white photos show the dashboard, steering and other features. Special double page reports on safety, reliability and motor design, including chassis diagrams. The last page describes and illustrated the Air Chief radio and other accessories and the specification chart is on the rear cover.

Interestingly this appears to be an Australian imprint of the American brochure with General Motors Australia details on the rear cover and the small discrete label of Sydney car dealer W.H. Lober on the front cover.
