Absolutely stunning orignal Netherlands ORDER OF THE ORANGE-NASSAU OFFICER CLASS FOR MILITARY MERIT. Beautiful order with blue enamel cross with white border edged in gold with eight points each mounted with a gold ball. Center has a gold lion surrounded by gold rimmed white enameled band with inscription JE MAIN-TIENDRAI (I will maintain). Reverse gold W topped by gold crown surrounded by inscrption GOD ZIJ MET ONS (God be with us) in gold lettering. Gold crown (flash makes crown appear dark however crown is actually a nice gold color) above cross with colored stones in rim of crown. Crossed silver swords (tarnished) behind cross. Beautiful ribbon with rossette. The order was established in 1892 by the Queen Regent, Queen Emma, in the name of her daughter, Queen Wilhelmina, for rewarding Netherlanders or Foreigners who have deserved exceedingly well of the state or society. T are five classes, Grand Cross with a star on the left side and badge from sash over right shoulder; Grand Officer, with a star on the left side, and badge round neck; Knight Commander, with badge round neck, Officer with badge on left breast with rosette on ribbon, and Knight with badge in sliver on left breast. No damage to any of the enamel or ribbon. All in all a gorgeous and extremely rare Order. Insurance required for this item as per US Postal rates per $100. I have had a number of items "Lost in the Mail" when shipping to Europe, so I am reluctant to sell to Europe. Buyers from overseas do so at their own risk as I am not responsible for items lost when going through customs in the various countries.
