These are a fine and rare pair of hand painted wooden tigers. During our research we have been informed they date late 19th century and are of Japanese origin. Certainly a wonderful portrayal of the tigers with the intricate hand carving and hand painted decoration. Each tiger, with their wonderful facial expressions, have an overall height of about 10inches with a max base dia of about 5.5inches. Max width with the curved tail is about 8inches. Underneath is a catalogue number to each w they have been part of a collectors museum piece. Condition to both is excellent and both are without any blemish except one which has minor chipping to an ear as per pictures. Besides being a very collectable pair of Japanese seated wooden tigers from the 19th century of an outstanding quality, both would also look fabulous displayed.
