Ebay a little boring lately? Ready for a spring fling??? .... OR just looking for that perfect addition to your collection ? ...... Well you've stopped by the right place! Offered for auction is a thick, funky chunky, red bakelite Oriental characters demi parure consisting of a large brooch and screwback earrings. I am sure these characters (Chinese or Japanese), represent good luck, or good fortune, long life, wealth and LOVE! *wink wink* These pieces are signed.... the brooch is signed SILVER, and the earrings are signed Japan SILVER and have patina charactistic of sterling. I am not an expert on bakelite but I do believe these are made from bakelite ...... when rubbed with a little bit of 409 they turn the Q tip red, when tested under hot water they have a medicine smell. They are in very good vintage condition with no damage, no chips or cracks. The earrings appear to be a tad darker red than the brooch, but this may be because they are smaller, and the silver parts have patina which can easily be cleaned by their new owner if desired. When I found these pieces I just fell in love with them. They just have that Va Va Va Voom and eclectic retro chic that you can only find in vintage jewelry. One of kind classics.
