I am offering this hard to find as a set Red Wing Brushed Ware pitcher and 4 glasses or mugs from a local estate auction that had lots of quality pottery pieces. The pitcher is 8 ½ inches tall, glazed inside and is in very good condition. T are two areas near the base that could be repaired areas and the spout is intact but may have been repaired w the finish is smoother. I noticed these areas on close inspection. No cracks or hairlines that I can see. T are four mugs with this set. With no handles they look more like glasses or tumblers, but were called mugs in the Red Wing catalog, according to B.L. and R.L. Dollen in their book on Red Wing Pottery. Each mug 4 ¾ inches tall. They are in very good condition for their age. Two of the mugs have small flea bites on the base, more felt than seen. One mug has a ½ inch chip near the base as pictured and an area w a tiny part of the lady holding a harp is chipped. The fourth mug has three small fleabites at the base. This is such an incredible set. According to books on Red Wing, the brushed ware line was made in the 1920s and '30s and was the first art ware line for the company. It was sometimes referred to as the Rustic decorated line. I'm not an expert but did do some research to identify this lovely and rare rustic beverage set. I am selling it as found and tried to fully describe each piece. Please email if you have questions or would like to see more photos. My starting price is well below (less than half) the book price for this set. I'd like to see it go to a Red Wing or old pottery collector that will appreciate its place in history.
