Fantastic Antique American Victorian Renaissance Revival Parlor Arm Chair. This rare piece is partial ebonized and parcel gilt, and covered in red velvet. Overall condition is very good . Retaining original finish. The bows of the top have been lost years ago, however this piece is important enough to merit conservation. It has Inda Comb Rubber Co casters, and we attribute this piece to Herter Brothers, New York City. A great example of a New York parlor set that does not come up for sale very often! A similar chair sold on July 22, 2004 on eBay item #3738117897 for $3500.00 with 31 bids. The only difference being was that chair had the bow carvings intact, ours is lacking only the bows. An example of this parlor set was featured in Victorian Homes Magazine April 2000 on pages 12-15.The feature is titled "The bow parlor set" by Nancy Ruhling. A rare and important piece of American Victorian Furniture. The matching Settee pictured is NOT included in this auction, this is for the chair only. The settee being auctioned off seperately.
