Up for auction is a rare Rookwood Art Pottery flower frog. It was made in 1927 and is number 6000. It is signed by Sara Sax. Ms. Sax joined the decorating staff at Rookwood Pottery in 1896 and worked t until 1931. Ms. Sax is recognized as having mastered many of the Rookwood glaze lines. Ms. Sax also has the distinction of being at the forefront of the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Arts and Crafts Movements at Rookwood Pottery. She was considered one of Rookwoods famous artist. It is 4 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. It is quite heavy and weighs over 2 lbs. It does have one small chip and one small glaze defect. These could be easily repaired. See pic for more details. Overall condition is quite good. Beautiful piece of Rookwood. This will make a great addition to any old Rookwood Art Pottery Collection!
