ROYAL COPENHAGEN BIRD DOG, POINTER NO. 5852 SIZE 9-1/2 long and 6" tall You are bidding on an outstanding rare, what is identified in the Copenhagen book of dogs as a "Bird Dog", but in US. known as a Pointer. This dog has remarkable markings, color, contour and expression! On its tummy is the Copenhagen stamp and figure number 4852. What is unusual about this dog is that it has a pontil mark on the upper left hand side of the stamp the size of a pencil eraser. It is round, smooth, and slightly whiter than the dog's glaze. At first I thought it was a label never taken off. When I tried to remove, I realized that it was not a label, but must be a pontil mark under the glaze. On the front left paw pad is the initials incised "AW". on the bottom of the back right paw pad is incised the numbers "4852". I have had this dog in my collection for years. I have two dogs left, this is one of them. The body sculpture is magnificent and bold, along with the lines and artistry which is very substantial. This dog as the many others I have sold in my collection have been displayed in a glass cabinet. This dog will be an asset to any dog collection or collector. HAPPY BIDDING!!
