I have for auction, a set of 2 RARE ROYAL DELFT 1968-69 FIRST MEN AROUND/ON THE MOON PLATES. The first plate represents the First Men Around The Moon and the second plate represents the First Men On The Moon. These plates celebrate achievements of the United States space program. The first men to orbit the moon, Frank Borman, James Lovell and William A. Anders. The first men to land on the moon Michael Collins, Neil Armstong and Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin. Both 7 inch plates were designed by Marcelius de Bruijn. Both plates are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Both plates are fully marked on the back. I'd be glad to send more pictures by email, just ask, and it will be done. DE PORCELEYNE FLES is the best known and most respected Delft factory in the Netherlands, founded in 1635. De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles is the only remaining factory of the 32 earthenware factories that were established in Delft, Holland in the 17th century. De Porceleyne Fles has also been known as Royal Delft since 1919, when it received a Royal warrant from the Queen in appreciation for the quality of its products. On the back or bottom of each article by Royal Delft you will find this mark: A small apothecary bottle under which the interwoven initials 'JT' for Joost Thooft, the owner of the factory in 1876 and the word Delft.
