Try Vendio Gallery Risk FREE! **BEJEWELLED** Offered for sale with NO RESERVE is an unusual piece from the extensive collection of a prominent Philadelphia auctioneer, now deceased. It is a rare Royal Doulton ceramic pitcher with characters from Charles Dickens novels. It was produced in a limited edition of 1000 in 1936. Kovel's 1980 value was listed at $800. The faces are well illustrated with great detail. The characters pictured are numerous, t are forty nine in all. Dickens is also represented at the bottom, center. To the right of him is inscribed "Keep my memory green" NOKE. The handle is exceptional, a complete three dimensional figure with a broom. The face spout is fabulous. The pitcher stands 10.5" tall and 11" wide. The diameter of the base is 5&3/8", the opening at the top is 7.25" by 5.5". It is hallmarked with the Royal Doulton trademark and the registered number 771321. The condition of the pitcher is excellent, t are no cracks, chips or damage. T is some staining on the bottom outside and possibly inside, I am not going to try to clean it. This is a very unusual and rare piece, truly phenomenal, and one not likely to be found in this amazing condition. Any white spots in the photos are reflection or glare.
