A rare art deco opalescent clock by the French glass artisan Sabino that rivals Lalique of the period. This beautiful prewar creation carries the inscription Sabino Paris on the rear face of the base. The opalescent glass color is full of fire and lustre, that of which is only found in the early Sabino creations. A fluted barrel crown and two elegant ladies frame a circular clock face. The deep brown face color features gold numerical and pattern highlights. The movement has been appraised as French balance wheel, 8 day 13 jewel, with the signature E. Courtin. Although in excellent condition, the timepiece requires cleaning and service by a professional. The Sabino opalescent glass is in near mint condition with the exception of the left rear corner which has a small chip to the top edge, and a 3/16 inch chip to the underside. Please see the photo of the signature for the edge condition. These small imperfections are on the rear, and do not distract from this stunning piece when placed on a table or mantle. The overall measurements are 8 1/2 inches wide x 6 1/4 inches high x 4 inches deep with a 3 1/2 inch crystal face. A rare and valuable gem for the Sabino art deco collector!
