A fantastic original work by the German scissor work artist, Lotte Cracknell. Cracknell was producing these items in Germany in the 1930s, and one of her works became the official telegram form of the period. They are very Art Deco in appearance, being black on a dark cream background. A book of her works Lotte Cracknell - Kleine Welt am Wegesrand is available for sale at various sites on the net, and this work is illustrated on page 25. The subject is Nirtentafchelkraut (spelling!) which is the plant Capsella Bursa Pastoris. I have shown the book in the photos to illustrate her work., but it is not included in this sale. For sale is the original framed work of the Capsella, signed and dated by Lotte Cracknell, 1935. Also in her handwriting are the words Orig. Nirtentafchelkraut. This item is being sold on behalf of a family who knew Lotte, and to whom she gave this original work of art. They had frequently seen her create these - all hand cut, free hand, with a pair of scissors. Framed item measures 30cm x 22cm (11.3/4 inches x 8.3/4 inches). Little, if any, of her work appears on the open market, as it was mostly held by the family. This is a rare piece.
