Fine Scottish - Edinburgh Sterling Silver 1860 Claret Jug Pitcher In outstanding condition with no dents, scratches or repairs this GUARANTEED genuine hallmarked Scottish sterling silver claret jug has a wonderful combination of both floral and foliate spray decorations covering the entire body and handle. T is a very elegant curved spout and ivory insulators on the handle at the top and bottom. The lid has an acanthus thumb piece and matching floral and foliate decorations to those on the jug's body. The hinged lid opens smoothly to reveal a beautifully clean unstained interior. The hallmarks are all are well struck and very clear. They appear on the front of the spout and on the inside of the lid. They consist of the Scotch Thistle, Castle, Queen's head and date letter D for 1860 and M Mc for J McKay The jug measures 290mm high and 160mm at its widest point. Weight is an impressive 1000 grams or 1 kg.
