You are bidding on a RARE Keen Kutter K5 Stanley Bedrock Wood Plane Sub title... RESTORED, 1920's - 1930's ?, Corrugated bottom, CLEAN The plane was obtained from an estate sale, w it was a part of a private collection, and was well cared for, exact age is unknown. The plane has all original parts and has been completely dismantled, and all parts cleaned. The wood is solid and has been completely sanded and refinished to the original natural finish color. The finished metal parts were stripped, cleaned, primed and repainted black. The plane is stamped on the lever cap and the blade with the the E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter Wedge Saw Tooth logo . I believe this plane is probably from the 1920's - 1930's, notice wedge logo, E.C. Simmons name at the top on the logo on the blade, but not 100% for sure. I believe after 1940 when Shapleigh HDW bought out E.C. Simmons, the Shapleigh HDW name was placed onto the top of the wedge logo. The plane is embossed on the front of the base K 5. The blade has the E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter logo. Normally Keen Kutter planes are embossed on the base as KK. This plane is embossed only with one K which refers to as being made by The Stanley Rule and Level Co., for the E. C. Simmons HDW Co. The Keen Kutter K5 brand was the exact same standards as the Stanley Bedrock series plane . This was the same as the 605 with rounded sides, and the same sloped machined base and fog seats for the entire length of the frog. The frog and base has a formed fit as the frog's bottom forms a broad and flat tongue, which fits into the bottom casting's broad and flat groove. The plane is approx. 14" long, a 2 3/8" wide base, and is 5 1/2" tall, and weighs approx. 4 1/2 lbs. The plane has the brass blade adjustment knob that is 1" in dim. The blade is 2"wide, and 6 3/4" long. The Plane is in good condition , some details ;The wood is solid, The rear tote had a cracked near the base (see photo)--that was pressured clamp glued and a long screw was added for support--is tight and you bearly can see the line, The front know was cracked and was pressured clamp glued and is tight. Not sure why way back when, but the very front base side support edges I believe were tapered down rather than being rounded (see photo), not sure why--but looks pretty good.As with the vintage of the plane, t is some normal wear, a few dents, dings, and some minor pitting, all as noted from the photos. The Plane would greatly enhance any collection. The Plane is S OLD AS IS with NO RESERVE. email questions before bidding. Check out my other items !
