This auction is for a mahogany Winthrop style secretary desk dating between 1900 and 1940. The upper section features a stunning bonnet top and also has a double glass bookcase doors with mahogany fretwork. It can also be used as a curio cabinet for collectibles. The interior of the bookcase has two shelves plus the base. T is a slant lid desk with breadboard ends just below the bookcase which opens to a large writing surface. The interior of the desk features four small drawers,which also has two hidden pillared compartments, plus the pillared center one and letter boxes. The lower section has three large serpentine drawers which are of the highest quality dovetailed and also has the original brass pulls. This secretary has Queene Ann Style claw and ball front feet. It is in excellent condition with normal minor wear commensurate with age. This is a real beauty and in great shape. The internior of the slant desk has been well taken care of with only a few character rings from a cold drink long ago. This is a top quality piece with only the best joinery and materials used. It is about 80 inches tall and about 16 inches deep ( bottom ) and 10 inches deep ( top ) . This wonderful piece is about 30 1/2 inches wide. The top and bottom do separate as they were built in two pieces and joined together. This could be your family heirloom for years to come ! Thanks for looking.
