This auction is for a very rare serrated-edge Spyderco Laguiole Knife. I was fortunate enough to meet again with the owner of Spyderco at the Oregon Knife Show and purchase some very rare knives from him. This knife is new in the original box and has the spyder-edge brushed finish blade. T was also a plain-edge version made that was available with a more polished steel finish. Overall length is 8.75" with a blade length of 4". The handle material is a shiny black synthetic material. What is different about this knife and the standard French Laguiole is that this blade locks into place. The other note is that this knife is made in Japan by the Spyderco factory with G-2 steel. T has been some debate as to whether this is really a Spyderco or not. The inventor and designer says yes even though it does not have the Spyderco opening hole. The box says Spyderco. The end reads RL01S which is the model number. Overall the quality is much higher than the French-made Laguiole knives and it does lock unlike the originals. A couple of history notes on this style of knife. T is a bee on the back of the knife. Depending on the legend that you listen to it is either a symbol of beekeepers in the area or the symbol of Napoleon Bonaparte who gave the village permission to use his personal symbol because they had contributed many troops to his war efforts. Pick one. This is a very rare knife. Up until this past weekend I had only seen pictures of it. Please note that this knife does not include a case since that was an optional add-on. I have tried to give an accurate impression of this knife with the photos. Please email me with any questions. U.S. Priority Mail Shipping and handling is $7.00, U.S. only. Thanks for looking at my auction. Please check my other auctions this week since I have some interesting finds that I will be listing. Many of my knife auctions start at low prices with no reserve, so you could get lucky. Most auctions are listed on Monday or Tuesday so check back throughout these days. Thanks again.
