* Vintage Sterling Silver & Black Onyx Brooch * Fred Davis ~ Ca. 1930's ~ Signed A rare and outstanding Black Face Brooch from Fred Davis, the man responsible for the Mexican silver renaissance. An imposing piece, it features the largest bezel set carved onyx mask I've ever encountered in a vintage Mexican piece. The solid silver setting is an openwork frame worked in the repousse technique in a chevron and dome motif. The brooch measures 3 1/4 inches in height, 2 1/2 inches in width, the carved stone black onyx mask measures 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 inches. The reverse is signed with the Fred Davis cojoined FD maker's mark and Mexico Silver. Rare item and the condition is excellent. *
