Up for bid and prime for the taking at a shockingly low price is an EXTREMELY RARE and tremendously creepy Overlook Hotel ballroom photo from the final scene of the classic horror film, "THE SHINING"! The original 8x10 photo from the movie set (yes, the one that was actually filmed on Stanley Kubrick's movie set) sold on EBay for over $3,200 a few months ago!! The scans below simply don't do this item justice! The picture is ultra-crisp and it's hard to believe that THIS is not the actual photo that sold for over $3,000. It's that impressive!!! The picture quality is amazing! On occasion you can find these in Hollywood prop shops, or on occasion you can find them on Ebay. When you do, they are normally "5th generation" and often come from one of our high-quality replicas. The camera's crystal-clear focus on a young Jack Torrance is impeccable and the revelers in the far back have almost a ghostly appearance that in no way shape or form could have been fully appreciated via the closing camera pan of this classic film. Yes, seeing this photo up close is actually creepier than when you saw it for the first time at the end of this landmark film. If that wasn't enough, the "Overlook Hotel - July 4th Ball - 1921" inscription at the bottom of the photo is as vivid as the original and naturally, eerily caps off this treasure of a piece! THIS IS THE CROWN JEWEL FOR ANY HORROR MEMORABILIA COLLECTION!! How often does such a "center stage" piece come around?? Think back to this chilling movie for one second. You are emotionally-drained from one of the most amazing horror movie experiences in your life. ..... but the ride is not over. The closing scene from this amazing film is an extremely long tracking shot into a hallway outside of the "Gold Room". You slowly creep towards one framed photograph ....... THIS chilling photograph. A frozen moment in time on the wall, you inch closer as a dance band, heard in the background, plays a music piece from the 1920's, Fitzgeraldian period. Suddenly you are face-to-face with a black & white image taken from the Overlook's evil time-zone, captured during the hotel's hey-day (1921) at the July 4th Ball. Broadly grinning and waving, a younger-looking Jack Torrance, forefront in the picture, is safely absorbed into the scene. Behind him are ghostly revelers all dressed in smart, 1920s garb. The inscription: "Overlook Hotel / July 4th Ball / 1921." More than twenty years after we first saw Jack Nicholson hack his way through the toilet door without even checking whether or not the occupant was in mid-business, "The Shining" continues to put the browners on viewers old and new.
