ALL OF OUR AUCTIONS ARE PRIVATE DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING FAKE EMAILS SENT TO UNDERBIDDERS. This amazing two volume set in custom made case belonged to the noted Hawaiian historian Carl Stroven and still carries his signature in both volumes. This rare set was published in London in 1831 and has all the wonderful and valuable plates present and accounted for. A pivotal voyage that discovered the mutineers on Pitcairn Island, it also has a wealth of information on Hawaii and other areas in the Pacific and is considered one of the 10 most important voyages of exploration into the Pacific in the 19th century. Performed during the years 1825-1828 his other accomplishments in his ship Blossom was his collecting of dispatches in Kamchatka informing him of the wreck of Parrys ship Fury, on Somerset Island in 1825. T is a considerable wealth of information on the people and happenings at the time in Tahiti and Hawaii w he stopped to refit and gain back some much needed health for some of his crew. In the original binding as issued over 170 years ago, each volume measures approximately 6 x 9 inches and is housed in a contemporary custom made box that was made to match the original bindings. A finer set would be hard to find in our opinion and very few sets like this appear so please keep that in mind when bidding and like all of our auctions this Pacific rarity is being put up without any reserve so good luck and be sure to check out our other listings including a highly important archive of letters written by Charles Lindbergh discussing his love for Hawaii and his outrage at whaling.
