The model that Leonard Bailey launched 10 billion examples over the decades, his Eureka design, after years of experimentation, that Stanley ultimately acquired and made famous. This, the Boston-marked type 1 #4 smoothing plane. With all original and proper parts, including the very difficult to find banjo spring lever cap and "BOSTON" stamped adjusting nut, the plane is in good shape given its age. Yes, the tote is cracked in two, and yes, the iron is short, but you would look far worse if you were 135+ years old. These don't come along often - it's the third complete and true one I've had in 25 years of tooling - and if you're at all serious about collecting, you don't want to let this one get by. Never cleaned, no owner's marks, japanning looks to be 75%. mr.peabody likes to know his listings are of interest to buyers. mr.peabody has in the past pulled auctions that have no bids or little interest. Please show your level of interest by bidding early and often. TERMS: If I know you, you know my generous shipping/payment policy. If I don't know you, a money order is the acceptable payment, and is to be in my hands within 10 days of auction's end. Personal checks will require a waiting period prior to my shipping the item unless I get a warm and fuzzy feeling that your check is ok. Make sure you have a valid email address registered with ebay. I prefer hunting for stuff to sell, not hunting for you. I'll leave appropriate feedback if I can't contact you. I email shipping info within 24 hours of the auction's end. If you don't receive an email (I don't use ebay's mail to contact you), check your spam filter for my email - it'll likely be adjacent to some whizzer vigoro or some poor Nigerian widow with untold billions to invest. I ship stuff USPS Priority Mail and do not charge a handling or packing fee using that service. If you choose not to insure the item, you assume all risk of loss/damage. I don't use UPS as I wouldn't trust them to ship a rock. If you demand any other shipping method, or the item is shipped outside the US, I will charge you a nominal cost for packing/shipping materials. And for you denizens of the People's Republic of Massachusetts - if you have no resale number, you must add in 5% MA sales tax so the gimme-gals in Brockton and Lawrence can buy their lottery tickets, too. blah, blah, blah, et cetera.... NB FOR YOU FURRINERS: Your hard-earned money is welcome , too, but it needs to be paid via: a) A money order that has a US address printed on it somew; b) Yankee folding money (cash dollars); or c) for you blokes what are in England, that paper money you have, the stuff with the funny looking dame's picture on it, is ok with me since it's nice to have folding money when having a pint or ten in England. I will sometimes accept Eurines, depending upon whether or not I have someplace I can spend them. If you want to send Eurinos, please email me before the auction ends. MORE GENERAL STUFF: Some of you go apoplectic if I don't leave feedback the instant you receive your item. Just relax, maybe take a Xanax or something - I'll get to feedback as time allows. And, for you guys that like to ask what the shipping is to the Maldives, Pago Pago, or any other global coordinate - don't waste your time. I won't reply. I haven't a clue what shipping is to anyw (unless it can fit in the post office's flat rate boxes), and must get that from the post office, but that only happens after you win the auction. As noted above, I charge what the post office charges, perhaps being off a dollar or two (either in my favor or yours). And another thing - when you email me questions, make sure you don't have the swell "hide your email address" box ticked. I don't use ebay's mail to contact buyers or answer questions, instead using good old fashioned email for the personal touch that only email can provide.
