This is such a great old very early and rare piece of Van Briggle. Any hard-core Van Briggle collector knows what a find this one is! It does unfortunately have a few flaws. At one time it was made in to a lamp as t is a hole drilled in the bottom. At the top is a chip with what looks like old dark glue residue. I have also taken photos of 2 bottom edge damaged spots. One looks like a flake in the finish but the color is t; could have come from the factory this way. The other is an edge chip, not too bad. I also see another bottom/base nick that is not real noticeable since it is really on the bottom edge. T is also a lamp part piece rumbling around the inside of the vase. I tried to get a picture of it at the opening. I am unable to get this out but with a little effort I think it is possible. (I will probably insert some styrofoam peanuts inside the vase to soften the piece banging around during mailing.) All in all, this is a very rare piece and even with these few imperfections, it would be a wise addition to your collection. I'm sure someone knowledgeable in pottery repair could make this look good as new. I, myself, would display it as it is. It really is wonderful!!! And the colors are awesome, especially if you covet arts and crafts style. It is actually a little darker than my pictures show and the flowing art nouveau poppy? crocus? flowers are so characteristic of this period. The measurements for this old piece are about 13 1/2" tall and 4 1/4" wide across the bottom. Don't miss out on this great piece of early Van Briggle.
