Offering for auction a Rare Dated 1902 Van Briggle Pottery Vase. The vase is design number 15 dated 1902 original design of Artus Van Briggle! Spider Medallion! Probably made by Artus himself? The VB signature on the bottom looks like his. The vase has a brown glaze? This piece is an experimental piece with the handwritten experimental markings on the bottom. It has the letters/roman numeral in ink on the bottom. It is also marked "Van Briggle 1902 15" plus the conjoint AA VB Logo. The vase has heavy drooping glaze! The vase is in very good condition! It has no cracks! No chips! No repairs! Because it was an experimental piece the glaze does not completely cover the pottery. This is mostly in one area on one side but, t are other smalls spots w you can see the under pottery. This was a test piece, it was probably pushed aside when the test was complete! What a cool piece of history, how they or maybe Artus would test the glaze, and document the test results on the bottom. Rare piece of VB Art Pottery! The vase is approximately 4-3/4" tall by 4-3/4" wide at its widest point by 2-5/8" at the top opening. Super piece of Van Briggle Pottery! A must for your collection!
