Offering for auction a Rare Dated 1902 Van Briggle Pottery Vase. The vase is design number 21 dated 1902 original design of Artus Van Briggle! Probably made by Artus himself? The VB signature on the bottom looks like his. The vase is a violet or light purple color or maybe mauve color? You can see a little of the white/cream clay showing through. On one spot w the glaze did not completely cover you can see slight blue pigments. In the interior the violet is dropping down on one side! Wow! It has Poppy Seed Pods going around the entire vase. If this form and design wasn't rare enough, this piece is an experimental piece. It has the letters/roman numeral in ink on the bottom. "LXV III" It is also markedÂ" Van Briggle 1902" plus the conjoint AA VB Logo. No design number on this piece should mean it was a early 1902 production piece. Estimated pieces produced in the first 3 months of 1902 are 300 pieces! Rare piece of VB Art Pottery! The vase is approximately 3-3/4" tall by 3-3/4" wide at its widest point by 2" at the top opening.. The vase is in very good condition! No cracks! No chips! No repairs! No pops, No flakes! It has the one spot w the glaze did not cover the clay, which is not flaw, if anything it's a bonus. Super piece of Van Briggle Pottery! A must for your collection!
