This auction is for a "RARE VAN BRIGGLE VASE #663 DOUBLE HANDLE LEAF & BERRIES" This Van Briggle vase is a rare and very fine example of old pottery. It dates to somew from between 1907-1912 from the markings on the bottom. It stands 10 1/2" tall and has double handles sculpted at the top of the vase. The raised design is that of what appears to be a branch around the top rim bearing leaves and berries. I am unsure of the color exactly. It is an unusually lighter color of maroon that has a washed muted appearance. Under different lighting it appears to have a greenish base to it. The finish is rough possibly referred to as pebbled? The vase is in excellent condition. It does not have any cracks, chips or repairs. It has a tiny rough spot on one handle. The markings on the bottom are The double A symbol with the words Van Briggle Colo. Spgs 663 underneath of it. Very small and hard to read to the left side of the symbol is the number 18 and to the right side is the letter T. I probably wouldn't have been able to make those letters and number out except that I had seen this exact mark in a book and then could read what it said. That exact mark dated it to between 1907-1912 according to the pottery mark reference books. Feel free to email us if you have any questions, and if you have questions please ask them BEFORE you bid. International Shipping: We will ship to most anyw, however we do NOT ship to ASIA. We will only ship this item by parcel post with insurance required.
