FRIDAY Very Rare Victorian French hand-made silk ribbon/metallic/dense and unique rosettes Fragment trim.....one flaw as shown in last photo (metallic thread break) approximately 3/8" x TBD I cannot even begin to tell you how old this trim is; I have never had anything like it in my possession and it is completely hand-made. It consists of very old gold metal threads which have now darkened due to age. On one of the edges it has a 1/16" silk ribbon woven through the very fine metal threads. It starts out from one end with a goldish shade of ribbon for about 4.5" and then the ribbon shade changes to a pale yellow. The opposite end begins with a pale yellow and then changes to the gold. On the opposite edge it has 1/4" silk ribbons woven through the metal threads in shades of pale green and alternating with the same goldish shade. However, it is a bit different, since it has tiny ribbon bows in-between each rosette. The rosettes are very unusual; they appear to be very fine strands of silky/cotton thread and then looped back and forth woven into the metal threads and hidden underneath the thicker silk ribbon. It consists of a bunch of tiny loops creating this dense rosette flower. Most of the flowers are a lovely old-fashioned pale, shimmery pink, but t are also a few flowers and t that are the same gold shade. This is a very rare read more
