Nice old vintage egg shipping case probably dates to the early 1900s (20s or 30s) and is a wonderful khaki green with old ochre yellow stenciled text reading " EGGS - FRAGILE - 6 DOZ ". I'm not sure what the material the case is made of is called, but it is a rigid type of hardboard with inner metal frame for strength, measures 13 1/2" w x 12 1/2" d x 8" h and holds 6 dozen eggs in cardboard trays. Still has old handwritten address' inserted in slots on front (Del Co. NY - NY, NY). Has metal handle and leather buckle strap to close (fragile leather strap is partly missing, buckle still intact), condition is vg with wear and soiling appropriate for its age. I see this great piece sitting on top of a country cupboard with a folk art chicken perched on top! Low starting price, no reserve! :D
