This NO RESERVE AUCTION features a RARE VINTAGE KASTOR~CAMILLUS OLD EQUAL END PEN ADVERTISING POCKET KNIFE in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION! This antique knife has been used and sharpened over the years yet still remains very solid. The A. KASTOR & BROS. company purchased, in 1901, the Sherwood Cutlery Company of Camillus, New York. They renamed the firm Camillus Cutlery in about 1902 and eventually the Kastor name was dropped. This knife was produced somew between 1909 and 1913 according to the history of the Metropolitan Life Building Tower. In 1907, the president of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, John Rogers Hegeman, commissioned the firm Napoleon LeBrun and Sons to design a campanile-style tower for the expansion of the company headquarters. Construction began later that same year, and in 1909, the building opened, and became the highest building (700 feet) in the world. It was surpassed in 1913 by the Woolworth building at 792 feet. Knife has what looks like solid nickel-silver sculptured handles with silver pins. Blade is tight and function smoothly but has no snap yet stays in place open or closed. Blade is tang stamped A.
