Rare Wedgwood Black Basalt Teapot 19th C Up for bid is a lovely and rare circa 1820 Wedgwood Black Basalt Teapot from the estate of a Wedgwood collector. This Wedgwood teapot is extremely hard to find and will be an excellent addition to the collection of any serious Wedgwood collection. A typed note that was left in the bottom of the teapot (see picture below) list the name and page number of the book w more information can be found. This is a very small teapot and was designed for making one cup of tea. The exterior has a matt finish and the interior is glazed. The bottom is impressed WEDGWOOD and the letter "E". MEASUREMENTS: 6" wide spout to handle x 2 5/8" high. CONDITION: Excellent condition with no cracks or repairs. T are a few very tiny chips (see pictures) to the lid and one very small chip on the top of the teapot at the lid opening. These chips are very small and quite hard to see and by no means take away from the beauty of this fine Wedgwood teapot.
