Do not adjust your monitors, this is REALLY a blue jardiniere by Weller . Up for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is a " rare", 3 color matte blue Claywood jardiniere by the Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1910. This is absolutely the first "blue" Claywood piece I've ever seen, but it is the real deal. T is very little information to be found, but these pieces do exist and they are quite UN-common. This would make a fantastic addition to your art pottery collection, or it could be used decoratively in just about any scheme. Better get it while it's , who knows when you'll see another emerge... This wonderful, guaranteed original piece of matte blue Claywood Weller Pottery stands 8.75" tall and is appx. 11" wide at its widest point around the shoulder area. The top opening is 10" in diameter while the flat, matte glazed bottom is appx. 5.75" in diameter. This authentic piece of Claywood is glazed in 3 matte blue colors - a light sky blue, a deeper, medium blue and a darker greenish-blue that highlight the large bands that encompass this jardiniere. The interior has a matte blue-green glaze. More importantly, this wonderful piece of Weller pottery is in excellent original condition, and is without chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs and/or retouches. T are two small glaze "flakes" ( not chips & easily touched up) on one band and some glaze thin spots on the inside rim, but that is it. I have not cleaned this piece, so it is in original condition and a tad dirty. I leave the cleaning to the new owner. Oh, and it has a deep, resonant ring when tapped lightly. Just beautiful! Lastly, this piece is artist signed. These blue Claywoods are tough enough to find in such great condition, but to find one with an artist's initials makes it even more rare. The initials - "KK" - are for Karl Kappes, who was the Art Director at Weller Pottery from 1904 until 1920. Although unsigned by Weller, Karl Kappes' cypher authenticates this piece as genuine Weller Pottery. What an absolutely gorgeous piece of pottery, and as Art Director, it is quite fitting that it bears his initials. Bid early and often to capture a real American Art Pottery prize from the early 1900's...You will not be disappointed with this vase! I accept money orders, personal checks and PayPal, but will wait for PayPal and/or checks to fully clear my bank (usually 2-3 business days) before packing and shipping out any merchandise. The winning bidder will be responsible for shipping and full insurance through either USPS's Priority Mail Service or DHL Ground. This unusual and very hard to find Weller jardiniere will be carefully wrapped and packaged for maximum protection. Please do email me with any questions prior to bidding and good luck!
