This wonderful Western Electric Rare Ppotoype Telephone is highly collectable. IF YOU WANT A WESTERN ELECTRIC DESK PHONE THAT NOT MANY COLLECTORS HAVE for your collection, THIS IS IT! This is a GN 4676 that appears to have been made in the early 1950s. If you are a collector you know how hard these are to find and how desirable they are. I will be the first to admit that I do not know alot about these. They appear to have been an experiment in reusing the Western Electric D1 by adding an extension to it's base containing the coil, condenser, and ringer. As you probably know, the D1 had a separate subset. What I do know is about 15-20 years ago I sold one of these for $600 at a telephone collectors show and just a couple of years ago one without blemishes sold for over $1200 on eBay. I would appreciate any information that any of you have on this telephone! I will post it to the listing. The phone is in good condition except for a couple of cracks in the plastic base and some warping to the right side. You can see this in the last three pictures. This phone is a highly desirable collectors item so has NOT been made to work. To make this phone work would require a modular adapter be put on the line cord and it be tested. I will do this for the high bidder if requested. This is a great, highly collectable old telephone! Telephones like
