Rare WINSTON NC Confederate 1863 Civil War Newspaper ** is a complete, genuine historic newspaper with the following title, date and description: WESTERN SENTINEL, Winston, North Carolina, October 15, 1863 * Rare Confederate newspaper * Wealth of Civil War news : General Bragg's Army This is a very rare title from the Confederacy. According to Brigham only four institutions in the United States have any holdings of this title from the Civil War, most just a few scattered issues. The American Antiquarian Society has no issues recorded from this era. The ftpg. has a fascinating letter typeset as if written by an uneducated soldier, many of the words spelled phonetically (see photos). Other items on the ftpg. are headed: "The Confederate Navy" "The Fort Sumter Flag" "The Victory at Sabine Pass" "The Advance" and other items.
