This is a No Reserve auction for a pair of extremely rare genuine WWI United States Navy binoculars from the Rochester, NY Annex. The left side below the eyepiece is labeled: "Bureau of Ordnance 10x45 U.S. Navy" and the right side is labeled: "U.S. Naval Gun Factory Optical Shop - Annex - Rochester, NY". They measure 7 1/4" with the individual focus eyepieces and sunshades retracted, and 8 1/2" with the eyepieces and sun shades fully extended. The eyepieces also have dials with drop down filters that are also in excellent condition. Cosmetically they are in rather excellent condition, showing expected general wear, with wonderful character. And, needless to say, they are very well made, however, the left side appears to have interior damage, as it is very hazy. The right side is quite clear with some expected peppering. The eyepiece and objective lenses are in fine condition. Also, the right sun shade is missing about 1" of the black coating, but that is of little import. This rare item would make a fine addition to any antique nautical decor and collection. We have described it to the best of our ability, and it is sold in as is condition.
