SCARCE WWII KRIEGSMARINE GERMAN NAVY U-BOAT BINOCULARS With Its Original Matching Case In Superb Condition YEAR OF MANUFACTURE: 1940 - 1944MANUFACTURER: Back of Right Side Center Barrel By Eyepiece Marked "HUET" PARIS No. 4593 ITEM: As Detailed on Page 118 Dr. Stephen Rohan's Book, A Guide to Handheld Military Binoculars. An awesome original pair of World War 2 WWII German Navy or Kriegsmarine Binoculars - This Set is Quite Nice Condition and comes with its matching original WW2 Case which remains in VG+ to Excellent Condition. The Case is also identified By Name (see picture) on the top lid to its owner, either the German Lt. Officer or possibly to the U.S. Lt. Officer whom captured this set and brought it back to the USA after WWII. Binoculars are marked on the back of the right barrel w the eyepiece is attached with the maker mark "HUET" and "PARIS" in a Triangle and Square Design with the Number "No. 4593" below that Logo and on the back of the left barrel w the eyepiece is attached with the markings "Am - 1v" and "10 x 50" also the Number "5" with the Degree Mark behind it. These markings are also in a Triangle and Square Logo. Next to the Logo is "D.F." and "Artl" (for Artillery) and below this, "KRIEGSMARINE". All of these marks are pictured so Please take a look. The Binoculars and neck strap are Original WWII Wartime Issue. Condition of the Binoculars is at least Very Good Plus. Condition of the original leather neck strap is Good (no markings), although I wouldn't trust the neck strap for use. Still the leather neck strap is fine for display and is still in one piece. You can see through the Binoculars very well, clear and clean on both sides with no cracks, no chips, no negative issues whatsoever. Clear and clean view through both barrels when viewing from front to back or from back to front. Both sides view to the same distant object correctly, no double images. Artillery Grid in Right Eyepiece 40 - 20 - 0 - 20 - 40 Horizontal Scale. In my opinion, the binoculars have never been opened since manufacture for cleaning. Also, nothing rattles inside when you shake them. Center hinge moves freely but is just slightly loose and could be tightened. I'll leave that to the buyer though. Binoculars are probably in good working order, but I cannot figure out how to focus them on the back w the adjustment dials are located. Set probably requires lubrication. Rubber Eyepieces are both intact. Inside the case lid is one other rubber eyepiece, not in as good of shape though. Other two spare eyepieces inside the case no longer have their rubber eye guards. All (3) eyepieces in the top of the case have sun tint lenses, intact. No sun tint lens are mounted on the binoculars though. Both Sunshades are in-place and are Original, also Extend and Retract Ok.The Case is in Very Nice Original Condition, no real problems with it other than some minor wear to the inside w the binoculars are stored. Everything seems to be t in real good shape and nothing on the case is in need of repair. I have noticed, the rear right backside vertical leather loop (belt loop) - the two underneath (at strap top) rivets are gone and someone has re-attached the loop with a cloth twine. Hardly noticeable, but t and must point this out. All leather holding straps are on the case are well attached and in real nice shape. Don't have the long case strap though. The Hinge Assembly for the Top Cover is in Real Good Shape also. The Case in this top condition is probably as Rare or Rarer than the Binoculars themselves! Top of Case is Named, "LT. STEPHENS" (looks like pencil or pen ...
