Unusual Chronometer marked Zenith and made by Vail Watch Co. Information gatd from internet suggests that this Swiss company manufactured and used by US Military during WW II> Clock has the up/down indicator that is working and does keep good time. Has lovely mahogany three tiered case with upper glass covering and opening top as well as secondary opening cover which houses the chronometer. Overall size of the case is 6 inches x 6 inches x 6 inches. Looks to have had a small nameplate on the front at one time. See pics of back for serial humber and the Vail watch Co stamp as well as Swiss and Zenith and what appears to be 15 jewels. Looks like the original number of jewels could have been removed possibly to be upraded if used by the US Military (Navy). Back housing unscrews easily. Clock has been in storage for a number of years but is running however I am sure it would benefit from cleaning and servicing. Please check my other auctions as I am selling a number of items that I have collected over the years.
