You are Buying a New V3 Epiphone Valve Junior Head Amplifier - All Valve - Point-2-Point Hand Wired - Dual Valve and RAT Tri-Rectifier. This Amp has been 'RAT' Hot Rodded - RAT HRVS - Hot Rod Valve Special - No longer in Production. This is one of the Last V3 Epiphone Valve Junior Head Amps. The Stock Amp has VERY Basic Controls and is a bit of a 'One Trick Pony'. The Amp is All Valve, Class A, Single Ended, Cathode Bias. As with all 5 Watt 'SE' Amps, there is Limited 'Clean' Headroom, but Plenty of 'Crunch'. It's a 'REAL' All Valve Amp - NO Transistors, Chips, Digital Processing or SMT (Surface-Mount Technology). On the Test Bench the STOCK Amp is Producing 3.5 Watts RMS and about 6 Watts Peak Power into 8 Ohms. The Amp is Wide Open to some Great Modifications - So this is what I have done - - - - Additional 'RAT' Features - 1. - 'OPR' - Output Power Reduction. /power-scaling 'OPR' lets you get a true 'Cranked Amp Sound' at VERY Low Volume Levels - Fat Harmonics - Sustain a Mile Long - the Full Works, but at MUCH Lower Volume. A Rotary Control allows you to Vary the Output Power of the Amp - As you 'Turn Down the Power' - The Volume Drops but the Tone is Maintained. The System is Electronic - NOT a Passive Speaker Attenuator. 2. - The Amp has been Totally Hand Wired using a Turret Board to Hold the Components. The Output Power is Now - 5 Watts RMS using the 'EL84' Power Valve -and- 6.5 Watts using the Octal (6V6GT) Power Valve. 3. - Switched Dual Valve Output - The Amp is fitted with 'EL84' -and- '6V6GT' Power Valves. With a Switch on the Rear Panel you can select 'Octal' -or- 'EL84'. The 'EL84' is Great for Brit 'Crunch', the 'Octal' (6V6GT) is Cleaner with more Bass. . 4. - Three Position 'Standby - OPR1 and OPR2' Switch......Centre postion is 'Standby' - 'UP' position is 'OPR1', This allows a much more Harmonic sound at Low Volume Levels. 'DOWN' position is 'OPR2', This gives a Softer, Cleaner sound at Low Volume Levels. 5. - RAT 'Tri-Rectifier' System - /tri-rectifier-and-sag Using the Rear Panel Control Switch you can Select - 'Silicon' -or- 'V1 Valve' -or- 'V2 Valve' Rectifier. The Valve Rectifier is a NOS EI 'EZ80'. 6. - 'Drive' and 'Master' Volume Controls - Allows Preamp Overdrive -or- Power Amp Overdrive -or- Both. 7. - 'Bright' Switch and 'Tone' Control. 8. - '3x Bias' -and- '3x Gain' Switches. /preamp-bias-and-gain This gives you 9 Combinations of 'Voice' settings on the Preamp Valve. From 'Clean' -to- 'Major Crunch' - it makes the Amp a lot more Versatile with a high chance that you can find the sound you want. The 'Bias' Switch - A. - 'Up' Position is 'Sharp and Bright' with Reduced Bass Response - Works Best with 'Humbucker' type Guitar Pickups. B. - Centre Position is 'Clean and Mellow' - OK with Any Guitar Pickups. C. - 'Down' Position is Factory Standard - Works best with 'Single Coil' Type Guitar Pickups. The 'Gain' Switch - A. - 'Up' Position is 'Medium' Gain. B. - Centre Position is Factory Standard 'Low' Gain. C. - 'Down' Position is 'High' Gain. 9. - 2x Speaker Output Sockets with Impedance Select Switch - 4, 8 or 16 Ohms. 10. - Auto Switching 'Dummy Load' on the 2x Speaker Outputs - The Amp will not be Damaged if you forget to Connect Speakers or you just want to use the 'Headphone/Line Out' Sockets. 11. - Dedicated 'Line Out' Socket. 12. - 'Headphone Socket'. 13. - The Valves are NEW - Marshall 'ECC83', Sovtek 'EL84', Fender '6V6GT' and NOS EI 'EZ80' Rectifier. 14. - 'Orange Drop' Tone Capacitors - Better Smoothing on the 'HT' and 'Heater' Rails - 2x Fuses added - All Ceramic Valve Bases - Resistors 'Upgraded' as required. 15. - Full 'RAT' User Manual detailing all of the Modifications. ... read more
